About me | I am a writer/director from Melbourne who made the move to Sydney in 2012 to support my partner as she completes a masters in speech pathology. My passion has always been storytelling – fantasy and science fiction are my jam. I believe that stories are the prism through which we can reflect on ourselves and our society – they always have been, they always will be. They allow us to explore new ways of thinking, and to dissect the delicate issues of the day. There are things I want to say to the world, and telling stories is the truest way of saying those things. I love films, so that’s the medium I wanted to work within. A theme near and dear to my heart, that permeates my work, is the resistance or acceptance to change. We fight so hard to keep things the way they are, to stay young forever … but change is inevitable, and I think that fantasy and science fiction are beautiful genres to explore this fundamental dichotomy in the human condition. |

Quotes that inspire | “The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of a mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.” “Then they set out along the blacktop in the gun-metal light, shuffling through the ash, each the other’s world entire.” Cormac McCarthy’s THE ROAD “He would fall asleep with his heart at the foot of his bed, like some domesticated animal that was no part of him at all. And each morning he would wake with it again in the cupboard of his rib cage, having become a little heavier, a little weaker, but still pumping.” You could probably lift just about any chunk of dialogue from Point Break, Good Will Hunting, Lars and the Real Girl, Back to the Future or Star Wars and use it in place of the above. But those earlier quotes are classy as shit. |
