Commission
We tasked Scotland UK based composer, Jeff Bernstein to explore soundtrack concepts for the new Sci-fi TV series, Sentient.
Brief
The Australian pilot features a character called Sam. Sam is an idiot-savant teenage girl. She doesn’t speak but her sensory perception and empathic ability is through the roof.
Sam arrives at the very end of the pilot and is the first human to communicate with one of the Sentient. That meeting results in the audience seeing the events of Day One revealed through Sam.
We asked JB to come up with a unique theme for Sam. What Jeff came up with could equally be applied as a unique theme for the Sentient. That may be because Sam and the Sentient have a lot in common.
Listen to JB’s version then compare it to US composer, Aaron Latina’s work. Feel free to comment below. We like both.
